Orc? Goblin? Ogre? You Decide

textured goblin 3d model

Monday this week I took the final for my Graphic Tools class. I am officially free for the summer, which I am devoting it to learning watercolor painting. I managed to get through an art minor without ever taking a painting class and I decided now was the time to learn. Since I didn’t have a chance to post all of my work for my first year as a simulation and game design art major, I’ll continue to post finished work through the summer, both from my schoolwork and personal projects. Maybe even a few work-in-progress posts.

Anyway, the last project of the term was a goblin/orc/ogre-thing. I could never decide which. So I’ll call him Scrum, since that’s shorter and easier to type. Today, I’m going to do something I haven’t done to this point: I’m going to show the model we were given to paint:

Base Scrum. Ain’t he a looker?

Now, to compare, you can see the finished model on SketchFab.

Take a particularly close look at the face. I’m very proud of the brow ridge, nose, and especially the teeth, which the original model didn’t have. My instructor told me that her jaw dropped when she saw the teeth. The armor color can be toggled on and off, so it’s base chainmaille color on SketchFab and black in the image above.

I know the model still needs some work. It could definitely use some shading below the neck and some details to add visual interest to the hosen and shoes. Something I may try to get to this summer. Don’t want the skills to get rusty :D.
