Futuristic Sword

Futuristic sword

This is the assignment I just turned in. I didn’t do the 3D model itself: we were given a blank model. Our assignment was to render it in Substance Painter.

I’m very new to Substance Painter. This is only the second thing I’ve ever created in it, so I’m still trying to get the hang of it. I’m definitely experiencing “new program” frustration, while I deal with a totally new interface. I’m new to 3D anything–rendering, texturing, whatever. But it’s something I’ve wanted to do for about 20 years and I’m really excited that I finally get a chance to.

We were given pretty much free reign on our assignment. We had to choose between a sword or an axe model to render and, as you can see, I chose the sword. Mostly because I love swords: in fantasy, history, or real life. I’m sure I’ll look back on this render a year (or more) from now and lament on how clumsy and amateurish will look to me then. Right now, though, I’m pretty proud of it.

You can get a better view of it below, which is directly from my SketchFab post:
